It’s always a pleasure to add another post to my blog after a particularly good event, and last night’s corporate quiz evening was exactly that……..a very entertaining night in the company of some great people. The quiz took place in Soho’s Secret Tea Rooms, a very quaint and intimate venue above a pub in London’s theatreland.…
With lots of future brides and grooms contacting us over the past few weeks to discuss their wedding reception disco requirements, here’s a few tips to make yours a roaring success: DO try to meet with your DJ, or at least call them and have an informal chat about your requirements. You’ll find it really…
Every January and February, we reckon that we probably answer around 200 enquiries for weddings and events, as prospective brides and grooms begin their huge task of organising the big day. The influx has already begun! Been sitting at the computer for well over two hours now, replying to all the soon-to-be happy couples. 2013…
With Christmas Day upon us again and the old year drawing to a close, it’s time to thank all the wonderful people we’ve worked for and worked alongside during 2012. It’s been a very busy year contrary to our early expectations, and we have seen many wedding receptions throughout the last twelve months, particularly at Orsett…
I write this latest addition to my blog at 2.45am, after a long night of Christmas party fun and helping out my fellow resident DJs at Orsett Hall…and I’ve finally made it home and flopped in the armchair. This was only the first of my four-night stints in December…..I’ve got a few more to come…
Time to catch up on a little blogging…. It seems to creep up slowly every year, and then suddenly…..POW! December is upon me, and the Christmas parties begin in earnest at the Orsett Hall. This year is busier than any of our three resident DJs expected, with parties going right up to the 23rd December.…
Well, it’s nearly upon us again……you’d think by now I’d be used to it, but December every year hits me like a train! An almost full diary of corporate parties and socialising with friends & family, by the time January arrives I’m ready to drop! We still have some availability for the Christmas Party period,…
Since our revamp of the website, we lost our ‘Links’ page along the way, which contained details of some of our very good friends within the wedding and entertainment business….so here is a quick guide to the suppliers you simply must book for your big day or corporate event: Westside Studio Photography Our favourite photographers,…
We get asked quite often by prospective brides and grooms if we can light up their function room or wedding marquee with either their chosen colour(s) of the day, or with constant changing colours. Of course we can! Some venues are quite dull with just plain cream walls and no architectural features to speak of,…
Rounded off a very busy weekend with the ever-popular Orsett Hall Wedding Fayre last Sunday. We got to speak to lots of prospective brides and grooms about their big day, and had a chance to show off our new look (as below) starcloth booth and optional matching backdrop.
As I haul my carcass out of my nice warm bed this morning, I immediately recall last night’s wedding reception and the ‘endurance’ of playing from 7.30pm til midnight…..in the cold open air. Now I guess I’ve been rather spoiled over the last 15 years or so, playing at some really nice hotels and plush…
I’m not really sure what to make of the new marriage licencing laws, which basically means that you can now be officially married at any time of the day or night. It would certainly be quite novel to start a wedding reception at, say, 4am in the morning following the ceremony! As a resident DJ…
Last Saturday night saw my furthest ever trip to a UK wedding destination, when I hauled my carcass down to Plymouth in Devon. A mere 270 miles away, I set out at 9am to make sure I got there in very good time. After a fairly pleasant yet uneventful drive, I arrived at 2pm and…
……Sunday night once again, so time for a quick blog update. What a truly awesome night at Orsett Hall hotel on Friday, where we launched our first ever Friday Night Live. Columbia were our main act, and as always they blew the roof off, leaving the assembled mass gasping for more and immediately demanding a…
It’s a nice quiet Sunday evening, so time for a quick update on the blog…. Had a wonderful time last night in the Orsett Hall’s Gold Room suite, made all the more special by sharing the gig with another of Orsett Hall’s resident DJs, Big Russ. A really successful night, dancefloor was pretty much full…
For the first time in over two years, we were back at Maidens Barn last week…..twice! Just wedding booking coincidence meant the long trek from Thurrock to High Easter on both Thursday & Saturday, so I thought I’d share my thoughts on the venue itself…. For a DJ, there are two dream scenarios and they…
Wow! What a busy week so far, and it’s only Wednesday…….and I haven’t even left the office! Lots of enquiries and requests for quotes flooding in, mainly for weddings in 2013. I must admit, I feared a lull in wedding bookings for next year, feeling that the recession would finally bite into the wedding market……but…
Last night was a very rare yet extremely welcome experience for me……a Saturday night off to attend my second cousin’s glamorous wedding at the fabulous Hengrave Hall in Suffolk. I met up with family and friends I haven’t seen since….er…..the last family wedding, and it was truly refreshing to be in front of the decks…
We’ve been asked to spread the word on an up-and-coming documentary on newly-wed couples and their first year together as husband and wife. So….if you fancy opening up to the cameras for your first year of marital bliss, then check out the ad below!
2012 has been our big reinvestment year, replacing some older lighting effects and putting in place new mixing desks and media players. One of the more recent purchases is our new DJ booth (pictured below)…..we always value a smart looking set-up and our custom-built stand has served us well for four years, but there’s always room…
Can’t wait! Following on from the success of the first Step On It night earlier this year, we’re back with some more bouncing anthems and club bangers! Just the one room this time, featuring club anthems from 1988 to 2012, encompassing house music, garage, trance, big beat and funky house. £5 in advance, tickets available…
A big thank you to all the teachers, teaching assistants and school staff who attended Orsett Hall’s ‘School’s Out’ party last Friday (20/7/12). After three weeks of non-stop School Proms for the various leavers around the county, it was the grown-ups turn! And with beer & wine permitted this time! A truly great night, we…
We are very proud to report that we are now the official resident DJ suppliers to the Orsett Hall Hotel in Essex. As one of the newest and finest quality four-star hotels in the South East, they have asked djianscott.com to provide all the DJ entertainment for their weddings, corporate functions, school proms and dinner dance…
Why not round up a group of your brainiest mates (max of 6 per team) and head over to the luxurious Orsett Hall Hotel for a fun-filled Quiz Night on Friday 22nd June. Tickets are priced at just £3.50 per person and there’s a pretty decent first prize on offer for the winners – a…
