If you live in the Essex area and you’re currently looking for a wedding or function DJ, why not drop in and see us at The Manor Hotel, Berwick Pond Road, Rainham on Tuesday 23rd August from 4pm. We’ll have a full rig laid out to impress and we’ll be on hand to discuss all aspects of your party requirements. And you’ll also get the chance to check out the Manor hotel too, with it’s fine dining and wonderful ceremony garden.
Hope to see you there!
If you’re planning your wedding for next year or beyond, then please don’t miss the opportunity to come and chat with us at one of the wedding fayres we’ll be attending this Autumn.
Firstly, we’ll be at The Manor Hotel in Rainham, Essex on Sunday 25th September 2011. Doors open at 10.30am and it’s a small but high quality venue with suppliers to match. Well worth checking out as a venue if you desire style, exclusivity and fine dining standards.
On 30th October, we’ll be at Orsett Hall Hotel. One of the most popular and biggest wedding fayres in the new-look and very impressive four-star hotel. Doors open from 11.00am.
We will be on hand to discuss all aspects of your reception party, and maybe help you out with other suppliers too!
Look forward to seeing you there!
Like any prospective customer, people like to see what they’re buying before they part with their hard-earned…….so starting in August we’ll be putting together a regular midweek showcase (dates and details will appear here!) at The Manor Hotel in Rainham, Essex.
We’ll set up the full system as we would for a wedding/birthday/engagement, etc, and you’ll get a chance to chat face-to-face with the DJ. We will be on hand to answer all your questions, concerns and listen to your own ideas.
It’s also a chance for other DJs to drop by and network, have a drink and maybe we’ll even start up a used equipment sale.
Watch this space!
No doubt as you’ve perused our site, you’ve noticed the small Sample Mixes player on the left hand side of each page. Go ahead and click on one of the tracks for some light musical relief! And they are reassuringly not in the ‘Jive Bunny’ style of a-million-songs-a-minute!
Today we’ve added a ‘Random Party Mix’ – this is definitely an eclectic collection of tunes I somehow managed to mix to good effect….hope you like it!
Remember, ScottieMix.co.uk is our associated mixing service division and can cater for almost all of your music recording/mixing requirements. Call or email for more details.
The original blog of our Unofficial Venue Guide to the Mangapp Manor has been removed at the request of the venue’s management team.
If you would like to know our DJ-perspective critique of the Mangapp Manor (or any other venue that we have played) then please email us via the Contact page.
As sure as the world still spins and DFS have a sale on, we’ve gone and bought some more top-notch equipment!
Adding to our already-impressive sound system collection, we now have a fully active Electrovoice 2500w kit, easily capable of satisfying larger crowds and bigger venues. Especially good for live music too, we’ll definitely be using it in conjunction with our favourite recommended band, Columbia.
I guess one day we’ll actually make some money from this DJing lark instead of reinvesting every week in new toys!
Nice to finally get a whole weekend to myself, and yet somehow still managed to spend most of it updating music folders or answering queries or quotes. When I did get out into the garden, the heavens cascaded upon me and prevented me from doing my favourite hobby…gardening. Huge irony for anyone that knows me.
One of the questions we get asked most frequently is, “Do you accept playlists?” Of course we do, but the latest customer went on to ask whether we would accept a complete listing of music which covered the whole night (i.e 85 songs) and whether we could simply play them in the exact order listed by them. Now I’m not one to turn business away lightly, but in this case I kindly declined to play at their function, offering instead our small PA system hire so that they can plug in their own iPod. They were quite taken aback, offended even, that I had refused the job. And this made me ponder………I wonder if plumbers/electricians/plasterers, etc get this kind of demand from ‘control-freak’ customers. The simple truth is that music is an art form, so everyone has an opinion on it. Not everyone can rewire a house or fit a new bathroom, but everyone knows music. However, not everyone can programme music, not everyone can read a dancefloor and not everyone has the wide spectrum of taste that a good DJ possesses. Therefore to ask a DJ to stick rigidly to a music list that someone else has created removes all of his/her training, instinct and know-how. They may as well not be there.
So……………yes, we do accept your playlists but only as a guide to the music you love! Please……leave the rest to us!!!
As always, we’re refreshing our DJ kit again and we have some top class equipment to sell. With everything we own, you are guaranteed it’s been well looked after and hi-spec gear….there’s no budget stuff amongst our set up! See below for details of what’s available – call or email if you are interested…
- Allen & Heath S2 19″ Rack Mixer – Superb quality pots, world-beating filters, one of the best we’ve used. In very, very good condition with original box. £450
- Full Denon DJ head unit set up – Denon DN-HD2500 Twin MP3 player, Denon DN-X500 mixer fully flightcased and wired in, with backlit keyboard and tray. Ready for the road, our most used kit over the past three years but still in great working order and mixer recently serviced. £650 ono
- Pair JBL EON 515 active speakers – amazingly light, really bass happy even on stands, excellent sound & levels. Complete with genuine JBL cover bags. Used about ten times. £900
We don’t replace our equipment because it’s broken or it’s rubbish, we replace it because we are always looking at brand new technology and (in some cases) downsizing. We NEVER compromise quality, so whatever we’re selling you’re assured it’s passed our stringent quality test!
As part of our guide to the ‘party-worthiness’ of certain venues that we’ve frequented, we come to a venue which now uses us as their recommended resident DJ service.
The Manor was formerly the famous/infamous Berwick Manor, the scene of some great house music raves in the late 80′s and early 90′s. That building was destroyed by fire some time ago, and the new hotel built in it’s place is a little gem! Aimed mainly at the smaller wedding functions (up to 150 evening guests), it is a very smart, modern and high quality venue.
The main room is quite small, with the DJ set up restricted to one corner. No need for a massive sound system and access for DJs is very good. There’s no sound limiter (yippee!) and they are one of the only modern venues to permit the use of a smoke machine, which adds real ambience to the room when using disco lighting. It’s a real treat to play there, the staff are very friendly and helpful and the food is probably the best we’ve seen on our many travels. Highly recommended!
