Ian Scott  – Professional Mobile Disco Services

I have been running a professional mobile disco business for over 35 years. From humble beginnings DJ’ing for fun at a friend’s birthday party back in 1987, I became truly hooked. A hobby soon turned into an obsession, and by the early 90’s I was playing clubs all over the South East, as well as building up a reputation as a very talented mobile DJ.In 1994, my enthusiasm and professionalism secured a residency at the Orsett Hall hotel in Essex. As an increasingly popular wedding venue at that time, the hotel consistently demanded a high quality service to match their own, and I met with their criteria perfectly! I raised their bar on presentation levels and by 1996 I had brought in mobile DJs to assist with the workload. Up until my departure from the Orsett Hall in 2014, the Resident DJ team were one of the most respected in the area.

The Professional Mobile Disco – DJ Ian Scott’s simple rules…

To me, the most important thing about a Mobile Disco is not the sound system, the lighting rig or the designer suit….it’s what is played next that matters most. Quite simply, the music choice and continuity are the most significant aspects of the job. I know how to work a dance floor to maximum effect …combining vast music knowledge with a fresh and funky approach. Unlike lesser mobile DJs, I don’t subscribe to ‘genre-hopping’ and big tempo changes after each track (the continuity bit) and I always avoid (where I can!) playing badly dated and novelty party records (the music choice bit).
A mobile DJ’s use of the microphone is relevant too. Far too much talking simply annoys the crowd and too little leaves them uninformed and detached. As a vocalist and a compere, I understand the rules and always strike the perfect professional balance.
These credentials also apply to my associate professional DJs that form the awesome back-up team for bookings that I cannot personally undertake. My reputation demands high quality DJs, and my team have never let me down!
And an important question; Should a DJ’s personal taste in music have a bearing on the evening’s playlist? I certainly think so….my career has been predominantly built around playing the music I enjoy, which in turn lends itself to a far keener performance. Fortunately my tastes are incredibly varied, but a few of my favourite genres are: 70’s & 80’s Disco; 60’s Motown & Stax; 80’s Skool Disco Pop; Funky House & Modern Dance Music. Speciality parties have included 80’s Nights, Soul Weekender nights and Dance Anthems
