DJ Ian Scott’s Top Ten
Every month, Ian will set out his favourite tunes of the moment, the ones he’s playing on heavy rotation at most of his parties.
It’s not just a pretentious list of current chart hits either…it’s a mixture of new music and old, inspired requests or songs that have simply been too popular on the dance floor to leave out…
In no particular order….
1. Mercy (Gareth Wyn Remix) - Duffy Surely the best track of the year so far in it’s chart form, this remixed version takes it to the dance floor without removing any of the original charm.
2. Valerie – Mark Ronson feat. Amy Winehouse Still loving this big, brassy reworking of the Zuton’s original. Works on almost every level, from kids to grandparents…floor filler of the year.
3. Step On – Happy Mondays Recently rediscovered this early 90’s Manc anthem, and can’t stop playing it! Anyone who was there will know….
4. Respect – Aretha Franklin When we’re relying on the girls to get the party started, there’s fewer more popular tracks than this 60’s soul nugget. It’s the rules that every girl has to sing along, no exceptions!
5. Love Machine – Girls Aloud Pure, unadulterated pop at it’s best. These girls keep churning out remarkably catchy stuff, and Love Machine is their finest disco tune to date.
6. Yeah - Usher Of all the R&B and Urban material around, this still remains the best feel-good track – Usher is a great vocalist and this song replaces the attitude and aggression of some modern R&B with a very danceable hook.
7. It’s Over – The Funkmasters Another gem I’ve recently unearthed again…classic 80’s Soul Weekender 12” single of which everyone seems to know the chorus. Not an ideal choice for the first dance on your wedding day though!
8. Place Your Hands - Reef
A wonderful indie anthem, ideal for the end of a wild party night when the crowd have just one more song left in them before they collapse!
9. Town Called Malice – The Jam 80’s Skool disco standard – brilliant driving bassline, feelgood factor of 100!
10. Bleeding Love (Dance Remix) – Leona Lewis Very, very popular house tune courtesy of Kiss FM’s repeated airing of it.
Like the Duffy remix there’s very little taken away, thus giving it instant appeal to young and old alike upon the dancefloor.
Ian will be updating his choices every month, hopefully giving you some idea of his style and playlists. |
