The Equipment
Ah, the boring bit that only techies and other DJs are interested in!
But seriously, Ian considers that only the best equipment is good enough and always uses cutting-edge technology. Constantly upgrading or improving, his current sound system is less than 18 months old so you are always assured of quality.
The heart of the music system is a purpose-built DJ MP3 player, boasting every possible feature a DJ could need. It houses over 3,500 records on it’s own internal hard drive and is connected to a further store of over 8,000 tunes, all available within seconds. And for those clubbers who doubt it’s beat-mixing abilities, well Ian prefers this system to his old Technics 1210’s!
The speaker systems vary according to the room size and number of guests at your party. For rooms where space is tight and guest numbers are below 120, Ian will use his EV system. Capable of 1200 watts, these four cabinets are perfect in this situation, providing great clarity and astonishing bass from such small boxes.
If it’s a big venue, then out come the Turbosound cabinets! Powered by a massive 3600w QSC amplifier, these four speakers provide crystal clear vocals and
ground-shaking bass response, ideal for those who require a nightclub feel to their evening. This system is also used when in tandem with live acts and tribute artists.
One of the main attractions of a good mobile DJ set-up should also be the lighting, and Ian doesn’t let us down here either. Presently he owns fourteen top notch effects, which he varies at each gig depending on the venue (he hasn’t got room for all at once on the stage!) Most of these are made by Martin and are all current models. Don’t expect the flashing traffic lights and perspex screens of old-time DJs, these are 21st Century nightclub effects!
